I initially met with Jon and Richie. Bon Jovi hadn’t released a record in years and wanted a whole image overhaul. Something more modern and classic. After a great photoshoot, I decided to use a grid layout that would allow me to show lots of images of them and other design details. Amusingly, the white square on the back cover of the booklet proved a difficult sell to Jon, who was convinced I forgot an image. Explaining that the negative space was intended, going forward he would say, “must be a design thing”. The new imaging for Crush proved a big success. Jon said that everywhere they went, people mentioned the package. One of the hardest working bands I’ve collaborated with. Total pros. Very deserving of their huge success.
