Lionel. What can I say. His reputation proceeded him for being a great, funny, very likable guy. Our first meeting at his (incredible) house did not disappoint. He was recovering from throat surgery and wasn’t able to speak. So, it was notes on pads. Crazy for both of us! I happened to be wearing some striped vintage 70’s pants. He pointed at them, smiled, and wrote that he had the same pair while in the Commodores! We were off to a good start. The project was a duet of his classics with some of the biggest country artists, including Blake Sheldon, Willie Nelson, and Shania Twain. I had great imagery to work with and kept to a sepia-tone vibe, which felt warm, inviting and comfortable. Lots of approvals from lots of artists. But Lionel proved a great decision maker, and I loved working with him.
