Mick Jagger
Goddess in the Doorway

VIRGIN RECORDS

When I got a call from Mick Jagger’s manager to do this project, I had a hard time believing it. Days later we met at the Hotel Bel-Air and had martinis. It was so surreal to watch him walk across the dining room, everyone in awe, and then sit down next to me and be introduced. He was warm and funny, and well, he’s Mick Jagger. The shoot went well. It was very low key. The model ended up being someone I’d worked with many years earlier on another shoot. She was great. I sent my comps to Mick in England. The next day life took a very big turn. 911 happened in NYC and the world froze. The label felt proceeding was going to be too difficult and another shoot was done and designed over there. Disappointing, but it was understandable. In hindsight, those martinis ended up being very expensive for the record label.
